Horizon West is comprised of three complementary divisions. One specialises in commercial landscape construction, one in commercial irrigation system irrigation and one in ongoing landscape and irrigation maintenance.

Horizon West commenced business in early 2007; and is jointly owned and operated by Allen Ryan and Bradley Hagen.

Horizon West are members of Irrigation Australia and the Golf Course Superintendents Association.

Horizon West operates out of our depot facility located on Thomas Road in Casuarina and also has office facilities in Wanneroo, that caters for the administration of projects in the northern suburbs of Perth.

Safety

Horizon West treats the safety and wellbeing of our staff, contractors, clients and general public with the utmost priority. We do not compromise in our safety standards, and we have very strict policies and procedures in place to ensure that standards are adhered too and maintained through all of our operations. The company employs an OSH Officer, who ensures that our sites are safe and free from risks and hazards.

Insurance

Horizon West has “Workers Compensation” insurance to the value of $50m, and “Public and Products Liability” insurance for $20m.  Copies of our Certificates of Currency are available for viewing upon request.

Certificates and First Aid

All of our staff that operate plant and equipment hold the necessary operators tickets.

Also all Horizon West Staff hold the construction industry blue/white card for safety induction.

All of our staff has completed “Applied First Aid” (formerly Senior First Aid) training, which gets updated on a regular basis.

Horizon West Landscape Construction commenced business in early 2007, and is jointly owned and operated by Allen Ryan and Brad Hagen.

Allen Ryan

Allen Ryan

Director

Allen has been involved in landscape construction and maintenance projects since 1997. He has worked for various Landscape companies, gaining valuable experience in tendering, project managing and supervising a wide range of projects across Perth.
Allen is a director and joint founder of Horizon West.
Allen’s role and responsibilities are:

  • Tendering and Pricing
  • Site Supervision
  • Technical and Horticultural Support
  • Staff Management and supervision

Brad Hagen

Brad Hagen

Director

Brad has been actively involved in the landscape industry for over 20 years. Brads specialty is in the construction and maintenance of hardscapes, earthworks and all aspects of plant and machinery operation. Brad was the proprietor of his own business in the years leading up to the foundation of Horizon West.
Brad is also a director and joint partner in the Horizon West business.
Brad’s role and responsibilities include:

  • Site Supervision
  • Sub-Contractor co-ordination
  • Plant and Equipment Co-ordination
  • Earthworks and Hardscape Construction

Niall Laird

Niall Laird

Irrigation Manager

Niall is a highly experienced irrigation project manager and installer, who has a wealth of experience. Niall was a golf course superintendent for 15+ years, and has for the past 12 years been involved in commercial irrigation service and construction. 
Niall’s responsibilities include:

  • Management of Irrigation Department
  • Site Supervision
  • Irrigation System Construction
  • Subcontractor Coordination
  • Staff Management and supervision


Gavin Horizon West

Gavin Dalton

General Manager

Gavin is the hands on Manager responsible for the day to day running of our sites. Gavin also has a Diploma in Horticulture.
Gavin’s responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and consolidation
  • Quality control
  • Site Supervision
  • Client Liaison
  • Staff Management and Supervision

Jodi Withnall

Jodi Withnall

Contract Administration and Estimator

Jodi has been in the landscape contracting industry for over 20 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience.  Jodi also has qualifications in Environmental Management, a Diploma in Business Administration and is currently studying a Bachelor of Business.
Jodi’s role and responsibilities include:

  • Contract administration
  • Tenders and estimating
  • Procurement of resources and supplies




John Cotter

Maintenance Supervisor

John is a qualified Horticulturalist with over 15 years background in the landscape industry, both in Australia and overseas. John joined Horizon West over six years ago and is an extremely proactive, effective and organised supervisor with an incredible eye for detail. John’s extensive knowledge and high standards ensures that our sites are always at their optimum presentation.

John’s responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and consolidation
  • Staff supervision and management
  • Tenders and estimating
  • Quality control
  • Client Liaison

Kim Ball

Kim Ball

Construction Project Manager

Kim is a qualified and experienced plant operator and a long term staff member of Horizon West. He has many years experience in all types of plant operation and is responsible for earthworks and hardscape construction across many projects, as well as management and supervision of staff.
Kim’s responsibilities include:

  • Plant and equipment operation
  • Earthworks
  • OHS Procedures
  • Client Liaison

Daniel Ryan

Daniel Ryan

Construction Project Manager  

Daniel is an experienced landscape supervisor. Daniel has been with Horizon West since 2007, and is responsible for the supervision in construction.  Daniel has a Cert 3 in Landscape Horticulture, and has been in the Landscape Industry for the past 16 years.
Daniel’s responsibilities include:

  • Site Supervision & Quality Control
  • Site and Employee OHS
  • Subcontractor Coordination
  • Staff Management and supervision

Shane Massara

Irrigation Service Manager

Shane is an experienced Commercial Irrigation Service Manager,  with a wealth of knowledge in service, repair and troubleshooting of all types of irrigation systems.  Shane’s irrigation background goes back many years, having previously worked long term at Total Eden before joining Horizon West.

Shane’s responsibilities are:

  • Technical Support to installation projects
  • Service Co-ordination
  • Site Supervision
  • Client Liaison

Stephen Klyen

Stephen Klyen

HSEQ Advisor

Stephen has OSH and Engineering qualifications and has spent 25 years working in Health, Safety and Environmental roles within several industry sectors.  Prior to joining Horizon West, Stephen was the HSEQ Manager at a large mining firm.
Stephen’s role and responsibilities are:

  • Assisting line managers and supervisors with ensuring HSEQ compliance by employees and subcontractors.
  • Completion of client prequalification requirements and tender documents.
  • Maintaining the Horizon West HSEQ systems and documents.
  • Training of Horizon West staff and subcontractors in HW HSEQ requirements including procedures and forms.
  • Conduct site audits and reviews providing feedback to Horizon West senior staff.
  • Assist in preparing HSEQ site documents, conducting  meetings and participating in incident investigations.
